Carousel Control

v0.2.0 Tools Coming soon

Flip through Instagram carousel posts with your keyboard. Hold Shift and use the arrow keys, no more clicking the tiny arrow for every slide.

Coming to Chrome Web Store Privacy Policy Support
  • Shift and the right arrow key move a carousel to the next slide
  • M mutes and Space plays or pauses a video slide
  • The toolbar popup shows the current keys
  • The settings page with custom key bindings
  • Works on one site, sends nothing, available in 21 languages

Instagram posts with several photos or videos (carousels) need a mouse click on a small arrow for every slide. Carousel Control lets you hold a modifier key and use the arrow keys instead.

How it works

Hold Shift and press → for the next slide or ← for the previous one. Carousel Control acts on the carousel post you are looking at. Release Shift and the plain arrow keys move between posts, as before.

Prefer another modifier? Pick Option (Alt), Control or Cmd (Win), or choose any key combination you like. You can also set how much of a post must be visible before the keys act on it.

Who it’s for

  • Photographers and designers browsing portfolios
  • Keyboard users who would rather not reach for the mouse
  • Anyone who scrolls through a lot of carousel posts

Carousel Control is not affiliated with or endorsed by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc.

Features

What it doesn't do

Permissions

Every permission this extension asks for, and why it needs it.

https://www.instagram.com/*, https://instagram.com/*
The content script runs on Instagram to listen for your shortcut keys and press the carousel’s own next, previous, mute and play buttons. No other site is accessed.
storage
Saves your settings (on or off, keys, sensitivity, interface language) and a simple usage counter in chrome.storage.sync. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome syncs them between your own devices.
contextMenus
Adds “Toggle Carousel Control” to the right-click menu of the toolbar icon.

Privacy first

Carousel Control collects nothing and makes no network requests. It runs on instagram.com only, and your settings stay in Chrome's own extension storage. No account, no analytics, no server of ours involved.
