Carousel Control Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Carousel Control (“the extension”) is a free browser extension that adds keyboard shortcuts to carousel posts on instagram.com.

What we collect

Nothing. The extension does not collect or transmit any personal data, browsing history or information about the posts you view to the developer or to third parties.

  • We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind, and there is no install ping.
  • We do not use cookies.
  • We do not have user accounts.
  • We do not operate any server that your data passes through.

How it works

The extension runs only on instagram.com. It listens for the shortcut keys you set and presses the post’s own next, previous, mute and play buttons for you.

Network requests

The extension makes no network requests. The only file it loads is a translation file from inside its own package, when you change the interface language.

Where your data lives

Your settings, plus a simple count of how often you used the shortcuts with the install date and the time you last used them, are kept with chrome.storage.sync. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome syncs them between your own devices. We never see them. Removing the extension deletes them.

Permissions

  • Access to instagram.com: to run the keyboard shortcuts there. No other sites are accessed.
  • Storage: to keep your settings.
  • Context menus: for the “Toggle Carousel Control” item on the toolbar icon.

Data sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties.

Children’s privacy

The extension does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the extension’s release notes on the Chrome Web Store.
