Countdown Timer (“the extension”) is a free browser extension that shows a countdown timer in its own tab.
What we collect
Nothing. We run no server, and we never receive your settings, your timers or anything about your browsing.
- We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind, and there is no install ping.
- We do not use cookies.
- We do not have user accounts.
- We do not operate any server that your data passes through.
Photos from Pexels
Background photos come from Pexels. The
extension contacts the Pexels API (api.pexels.com) in these cases:
- the first time you open the timer, to pick a photo for the background
- when you browse photos or let the timer pick a random one, it asks for curated photos
- when you search for photos, it sends the words you searched for
Each request carries the extension’s own Pexels API key, not anything about you. Your browser then loads the photos from the Pexels image servers. Like any website, Pexels sees your IP address and browser type. No account or personal information is sent. See the Pexels privacy policy.
The built-in gradients and animated backgrounds make no network requests.
Your own images
If you paste a link to an image, your browser loads that image directly from the website you linked to.
Where your data lives
Your countdown, presets, background choice and other settings are saved
with chrome.storage.sync. If Chrome sync is on, Chrome syncs them
between your own devices. Removing the extension deletes them.
Permissions
- Storage: to save your timer and settings.
The extension has no access to the websites you visit. It does not read or change them.
Data sharing
We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties.
Children’s privacy
The extension does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the extension’s release notes on the Chrome Web Store.
