Help with the Feed Fabrik RSS reader browser extension: answers to common questions and how to reach us.
Feed Fabrik looks for feed links on each page you open. If it finds none:
chrome://extensions.Chrome does not let extensions run on its own pages, such as
chrome:// addresses and the Chrome Web Store, so nothing is
detected there.
Make sure the address points to the RSS or Atom feed itself, not to the website’s home page. Open it in a tab first: you should see the feed, not a login page or an error. Some sites block feed readers or keep their feed behind a login, and those feeds cannot be added.
Feeds are checked in the background. In Settings, under Feed Update Settings, you can choose how often with Default Update Interval and turn on Update feeds on startup. Keep in mind that a feed only shows new articles once the publisher adds them to it.
Turn on Enable browser notifications in Settings and allow the permission when Chrome asks. If they still don’t appear, check that your computer’s notification settings allow Chrome to show notifications.
Yes. Click Import Feeds in the popup to import an OPML file or paste feed addresses. Most feed readers can export OPML.
Open Settings, go to Import & Export and click Export OPML. You get a file with all your feeds that you can import again later, in Feed Fabrik or in another reader.
No. There is no account or login. Your feeds, collections and reading state are stored in your browser.
Nothing about your feeds, articles or the sites you visit: there are no usage analytics. We only receive one anonymous count when you install it, and a page view if you uninstall it. The privacy policy has the details.
Right-click the Feed Fabrik icon in Chrome’s toolbar (or in the
puzzle piece menu) and choose Remove from Chrome. You can also
remove it at chrome://extensions. Chrome then opens a short
goodbye page on our site.
Your feeds and reading state are removed together with the extension. If you might come back, use Export OPML in Settings first to keep a copy of your feeds.
Email us and tell us what happened, on which page, and your Chrome and extension version. A real person reads every message.
