Username Generator Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Username Generator (“the extension”) is a free browser extension that suggests usernames inside username fields of web forms.

What we collect

Nothing. The extension does not collect or transmit any personal data, browsing history or anything you type to the developer or to third parties.

  • We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind, and there is no install ping.
  • We do not use cookies.
  • We do not have user accounts.
  • We do not operate any server that your data passes through.

How it works

The extension looks at the text fields on the pages you visit to find username and name fields, using their names, labels and similar attributes. It does not read what you type. Suggestions are generated in your browser and only filled in when you pick one.

Network requests

The extension makes no network requests at all.

Where your data lives

Your generator settings, and the fields, pages and sites where you switched the icon off (the page address, the site name and the field’s name or id), are kept with chrome.storage.sync. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome syncs them between your own devices. We never see them. Removing the extension deletes them.

Permissions

  • Access to all websites: sign-up forms can be on any site.
  • Storage: for your settings.
  • Context menus: for the right-click items.
  • Scripting and active tab: to add the generator to a frame when you ask for it from the right-click menu.

Data sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties.

Children’s privacy

The extension does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the extension’s release notes on the Chrome Web Store.
