XML Format (“the extension”) is a free browser extension that shows XML documents as a readable tree.
What we collect
Nothing. The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, browsing history or the content of the documents you view to the developer or to third parties.
- We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind, and there is no install ping.
- We do not use cookies.
- We do not have user accounts.
- We do not operate any server that your data passes through.
How it works
When a page finishes loading, the extension checks whether it is an XML document. If it is, the document is parsed and displayed as a tree in your browser. XPath queries run in your browser too. Other pages are left unchanged.
Network requests
The extension makes no network requests to any server. The only file it loads is a stylesheet from inside its own package.
Where your data lives
Your display preferences (colors, fonts and similar settings) are saved
with chrome.storage.sync. Chrome keeps them in your browser profile
and, if you use Chrome sync, on your other Chrome browsers. We never
receive them. Removing the extension deletes them.
Permissions
- Access to all websites and file URLs: XML can be opened from any address. The extension only checks whether a page is XML. No data from any page is stored or sent anywhere.
- Storage: for your display preferences.
Data sharing
We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties.
Children’s privacy
The extension does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the extension’s release notes on the Chrome Web Store.
